William “Bill” Bowen Call (son of Gaius)
January 13, 2025
I must have been 5 or 6 years old. Our family (I am Gaius’ 8th of 10) went down to Mexico for a visit. We stayed at Uncle Charlie’s. My mom took me over to see Grandpa. I went up to him and said, “Hi.” He asked, “Who are you?” I said, “Billy.” He then asked, “Who is your daddy?” I said, “Gaius.” Grandpa said, “I love you, Billy.” He then gave me a big hug. The next day I went over to see Grandpa again. When he saw me, he asked, “Who are you?” I answered, “Billy.” Then he asked, “Who is your daddy?” I replied, “Gaius.” He then gave me a hug and said, “I love you, Billy.” Later in my life I asked my mom about it and she said that is what happened. She said, “You know Grandpa had over a hundred grandchildren.” (I don’t know when my mom said this to me or how many grandchildren he had when this happened.) Then she said, “I am sure it was hard to remember all of his grandchildren’s names but I know he loved them all.” I later came to know he had 126 grandchildren.
