Grandpa Call was very “straight laced.” He lived on the “straight and narrow” and expected his family to do the same. During a sacrament meeting, Eran, Mac, and others, who were 15-16 years-old, were talking. (I was 4 years younger than Mac.) Bishop Call called them to the pulpit and said, “If you boys have so much to say during the meeting, you need to share it with everyone!” They then gave extemporaneous talks to the ward.
During Grandpa Call’s later years, he used two canes. When his ride to Church was late, he would start walking down the middle of the street until his ride came. He didn’t like being late to Church.
